Junior Firefighter’s provide active manpower that is needed on incidents. Get real life experience on Fire scenes. Junior Firefighters work under direct supervision of Fire Officers and Fire personnel.
About the Junior Firefighter program
To join the Junior Firefighter Program, you must be between 16 and 18 years old. Junior Firefighters are required to maintain good grades in school to remain active. Junior Firefighters are trained to the level of Exterior Firefighting. Once the age of 17, with parental consent, a junior firefighter can go get certified to be an Interior Firefighter.
Starting as a junior firefighter gives you the chance to learn a lot before becoming an interior firefighter. This give you a great advantage in your future of being a Firefighter.
Junior firefighters learn how to use tools and operate equipment.
Junior firefighters can train on using a SCBA and get comfortable being on air.
